  3. Great video! Amazing to see how seriously COVID is handelt in Vietnam.
In Switzerland most even cry about wearing a mask because it is a restriction of freedom. 🤬
We didn’t close our airports for international travel, the result was that after every holiday there was a new spike in cases…

  4. Always know your ROOT doesn't matter where you live in the world.

  7. I can see why this video went viral. Nice! I feel like I would probably be just fine with the quarantine food, but I might start hunting for snacks! 😂

  8. Thanks for posting this Van! I kinda knew that you didn’t have a negative experience going to the quarantine camp but I was worried it might have been like a reeducation camp. Vietnam is so different now than right after the north and south were reunited in 1975. While I was still Mari, I wanted to go back but it looked like flights were were like $10,000! Now it seems they’re much more affordable. I still think about coming back to look for someone who may have died in a reeducation camp a long time ago. I used to dream about going back to find her. I made it all the way back to where she lived but when I got there she was gone. I also feel that it might be impossible to find her if I went.

You have not reported the real deal about the quarrantine of the ordinary citizens. It does not look peaceful as such.

  11. hello Van, and good morning from Denmark. it sounds like you've experienced the dark side of the US. When I visited Texas and California 20 years ago, in connection with company travel, I worked in the oil and gas industry, I quickly discovered that the US is not a good country for foreigners and the police are brutal and without any sense of law and order. thank goodness you are safe in Vietnam. there I have also been it is a wonderful country.

  12. Don't worry about Covid, the governments overreacted in a huge way and are still trying to keep us all scared. Please believe that unless you are very old and chronically ill you have nothing to worry about.

  13. Hmmm, any thoughts in hindsight about portraying VN response to the pandemic so favorably? Nearly 16 months later and my fiancée in Saigon is just recovering from Covid-19…after being vaccinated. Every country had to deal with a second wave and a third wave because they try to go back to normal too soon without having procedures in place to protect citizens. This is what gave rise to the two variance that still plague the world. Even Singapore, who probably had the model response to the coronavirus has had to shut its borders against international travel. Safety is a state of mind. Being in one country or another does it necessarily make you safe from the virus. One’s actions and precautions are what keep us safe and what prevents the spread of the disease.
